Dr. Xinlin Ma

Xinlin Ma is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Geography at Virginia Tech. Her
research lies at the intersection of urban geography, planning, and geospatial
data science, with a focus on urban change, mobility, environmental resilience,
and data-driven policy evaluation. She integrates geospatial big data, remote
sensing, street-level imagery, and spatiotemporal methods to examine how urban
redevelopment and policy interventions reshape places and everyday life. Her
work seeks to bridge large-scale spatial analytics with human-centered
perspectives to better understand urban change and support more informed and
equitable planning and decision-making.
