Dr. Amy Potter is a Professor of Geography at Georgia Southern University whose research focuses on cultural geography, public memory, and heritage tourism. She has co-led two collaborative projects that have secured a combined $1 million in funding from the National Science Foundation. She is the lead author of Remembering Enslavement: Reassembling the Southern Plantation Museum (2022, University of Georgia Press). She has published over 30 articles and book chapters in journals such as Tourism Geographies, The Public Historian, and the Journal of Heritage Tourism.

Since moving to the region in 2013, Amy has been an active and committed member of SEDAAG, serving in numerous leadership roles including Vice President, Treasurer, Chair of the Honors Committee, and Georgia State Representative. She also serves on the editorial board of Southeastern Geographer and has proudly published in the journal. In addition to her service, she is dedicated to mentoring students and regularly brings them to SEDAAG to engage with the community.
